The idea of attunements performed at a distance was actually not an idea/concept created by man. Distance attunements and healing’s have been happening probably since the time of Atlantis. However there are some Reiki Masters that would have you believe they created and introduced the concept. They are safe to do so because Angels and Ascended Masters are not ego driven and therefore not going to appear saying that they were the first to do this. Without ego they had no need to take create of something many now think of as “New Age” that is really not new or new age. Don’t be fooled by misinformation.
A perfect example of a distance attunement (originally called an initiation which can only be received when a person is at a level where they are ready for it) was when Dr. Usui the founder of Reiki Usui received the Reiki Initiation. It was at a distance and even a greater distance than we are performing attunements because that energy came to him from another dimension.
Do you not think that Angels and Ascended Masters were effecting people with their energy since the beginning of time? Then maybe you will believe and be a sucker for the statements made by William Rand.
Some people have been doing distant Reiki attunements to initiate students into the use of Reiki and have asked me for more information on this subject. In this article I am writing about giving people the ability to use Reiki by using a distant attunement. This is different than doing the Healing Attunement which is only for healing. This article also pertains to receiving attunements from a DVD or online.
Actually, I was one of the first to introduce the idea of distant attunements and included it in my Reiki master manual as far back as 1991. However, I didn’t intend for distant attunements to take the place of attunements done in person.

Well, the divine had already made the decision about how helpers such as Angels and Ascended Master would do the job of helping, healing and assisting humanity. It was not for this particular Master to intent it. “Never the less, not my will but thine be done,” I guess is not a fiat that William Rand believes in.
Remember that all things new and new age have just been taken and wrapped up in a new package, shinning, new and ready to be marketed for a price to the masses. We get a chance to see the persons true talents…creative writing and marketing!
Some Truths to Ponder
- Man has been getting attunements (which were originally called initiations) for difference things for all of time. Man has been initiated to various levels of enlightenment from the divine such as Jesus’ transformation before receiving his baptism from John the Baptist.
- Angels and Ascended Masters have initiated people to tap into certain energy levels and metaphysical abilities since the beginning of mans time on Earth.
- People still to this day tell of experiences where they were visited by something divine that effected and changed them.
- An initiation is basically being initiated and moved to a new level when the person is ready for it. It is not possible to happen if for any reason it is against God’s will and so no Reiki Master has the ultimate final decision in this process.
- Ego is sneaking and often goes undetected and can have you believing in a power you have or that you are the first of something or to do something. It is a trick by evil itself to manipulate a person by way of their own ego. All should always diligently watch out for this and be on guard.
- The ultimate code to abide by is Universal Law aka God’s Law.
I want to thank you for this article. I have had some distance attunements and they were just as powerful if not more than in person ones. However I can’t tell you how many people have told me that a distance attunement was not a true attunement. It makes me sad that a lot of people who would love to be doing healing work but have little money to pay are turned away. Right now this world needs all the healers it can get.
